Udayan said: “Kalhaar has been my home course for a few years now and I also won here, so I know this route well. However, I have never played Kalharar with so much wind. So today’s round was something special and in my step I added a spring because I look forward to the weekend.

“I did the ball well, made a lot of putts and, above all, played cleverly. I was not excessively aggressive on the Par-5S because I decided to work on a few of them. I am proud of the way I dealt with these difficult conditions and met the pictures I needed.”

Khalin Joshi, who started the day from the rear nine, collected two birdies and an eagle between 11 and the 14th to take the gym at four lower ones for the day. Joshi then added three more birdies to the front nine when he ended up near the day.

Khalin said: “I think I was very quiet today and I am confident that I was arriving and couping in comparison to around one. During the Indian open week, I went through a little swim when I was working on my posture and ball position. I feel much more comfortable after I made these changes.

“I played well here at Kalhaar in the past after I won here. It is a golf course of a ball striker and I like to play here. The wind is always a big factor here, as is the length of the course and the challenges that the wavy greens have so often that the pens are often difficult.
