The leadoff man Josh Smith produced a double with two runs and a Homer with two runs to reset six strong innings from Jacob Degrom when the Texas Rangers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals with 8: 1 in the rubber game of a three-game set in Arlington on Sunday afternoon.
Wyatt Langford and Jonah Heim added victim flying, Jake Burger cracked a run-scoring double and Sam Haggerty placed a suicide speed to bring another run home when the Rangers grabbed a three-way loser strip.
Texas’ pitching was the story when the Rangers St. Louis 19-4 exceeded on the set.
On Sunday, Degrom (5-2) allowed a run with four goals and three walks while he was roaming four. He followed the hill of Shawn Armstrong (a hit in 2/3 from Inning), Hoby Milner (a strike out in 1 1/3 Inning) and Luke Jackson (a strike out in the ninth) for the Rangers.
The starter of Cardinals, Erick Fedde (3-5), almost matched Degrom and gave up two runs on four goals and three walks, while scoring five work in Innings. Fedde has not won since May 9th, a series of four starts that have produced two losses and two non-decisions.
The cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the first time when Willson Contreras brought Lars Nootbaar home, who opened the game with a walk and went second in second place. Ivan Herrera followed with a single one, but Degrom was able to persuade Nolan Arenado to end the threat.
Texas replied in the second. Smith lowered a two-out double on the left field line to pursue Marcus Semien and Hagggerty in order to provide the Rangers a 2-1 advantage.
Langford’s base shop victims fly with an out in the seventh cardinal helper Kyle Leahy drove in the Semien and increased Texas’ lead to 3: 1.
The Rangers added five in the eighth in front of Steven Matz and Roddery Munoz. Smith’s two-run round trippers ended the climb.
