Abdul Carter was considered the top defensive player in College Football last season.
Now he is in sight to be the top -defensive rookie in the NFL.
Carter was number 3 in the NFL design of the New York Giants, and it is expected to be a force from the start.
The former outstanding Penn State is the clear favorite that gains the honor of the NFL defensive rookie of the year due to his talent, its expected production and its opportunities.
Jacksonville Jaguars Cornerback Travis Hunter and Atlanta Falcons outside of LineBacker/Defensive Jalon Walker are also in the mix. The dark horses include Baltimore Ravens outside of Linebacker Mike Green and Arizona Cardinals Cornerback wants Johnson.
The Giants can write Carter’s names in Filzstift on her deep card, and he could reach double -digit digits in sacks this season. But seven or eight sacks should also be good enough to win the award.
Last season, the outslinker Jared Verse from the Los Angeles Rams ran away with the vote – and he had only 4.5 sacks.
Carter led the nation with 23.5 duels for the loss of 12 sacks and forced to fumble, while he received unanimous all-America honor of the first team. His sack took seventh place nationwide and was appointed the big ten defensive player of the year.

New York now has three outstanding pass -rushers in Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and Carter. If nothing else is available for each of the three space for occasional breaths.
Regardless of this, Carter promises to be very productive, no matter how the season is divided.
Hunter, No. 2, is an outstanding cornerback of the cover, but the question that surrounds him is his use as a recipient.
The Jaguars have not decided how much Hunter will play on both sides of the ball – or whether he could concentrate more on one side than on the other.
If he plays an important role on the offensive, he could only be a small contribution to defense. If he primarily plays Cornerback, his number of catch or defense would be the barometer.
New York Jets Cornerback Sauce Gardner won the award in 2022 with just two interceptions, but led the NFL with 20 pass separations. In 2017, the then new Orleans Saints-Cornerback Marshon Lattimore had five interceptions while he received the honor.
Walker is still raw, but gets plenty of opportunities to help defend the falcons. He was number 15 in total.
The 21-year-old played in Georgia and had 6.5 sacks last season, while he won the Butkus Prize as the top linacker of the nation.
He is able to reach the sack of last season as a rookie, and has recently sworn to pursue opposing quarterbacks aggressively.
Green is certainly a dark horse after being selected late in the second round (No. 59) by the Ravens.
He had 17 sacks in Marshall last season, but his stock as a safe river was due to two accusations for sexual attacks. He denied the allegations and said that one comes from high school and the other from his time in Virginia, where he switched to his last college season in Marshall.
The drop-down board helped him land with Baltimore, where his skills in Pass-Rushing are welcomed. This means that the possibility of achieving a great effect could be on the horizon.
Johnson is talented, but played in Michigan in just six games for injuries last season. He had nine college interceptions and returned three for touchdowns.
He was seen as a top 10 election that entered the 2024 season, but his existence fell and some teams were reportedly concerned about a knee problem. The cardinals were thrilled to get him in the second round (No. 47 in total), and it could prove to be theft.
Return a few interceptions for touchdowns as rookie, and “Dark Horse” Johnson could quickly become a main factor in this race.
