Fans react as Halifax confirm that Manager left the club after the defeat of the National League Playoff

FC Halifax Town confirms that the manager Chris Millington left the club after the defeat of the National League Playoff and lost 4-0 against Oldham.

Chris Millington resigned as a manager of FC Halifax Town after three seasons after lending the team to two play-off surfaces and a final victory of 2023 FA Trophy.

It served a total of six years, including three as deputy managers. Millington thanked the employees, players and fans and recognized their support in achieving these milestones, but is of the opinion that a change in management is necessary to advance the association in the direction of the EFL.

The chairman David Boosomworth praised Millington’s commitment and emphasized the win of the FA Trophy and the consistent play-off appearances despite challenges such as injuries and disorders of strength.

Millington will help with the interview process for his replacement, and both he and the club press mutual respect and cudes for the future.

    Club statement:

The association can confirm that Chris Millington has resigned from its role as a manager of FC Halifax Town.

In three seasons and 155 games as a manager (three years earlier as deputy manager under Pete Wild), Chris led the team to two play-off surfaces and a win in the FA Trophy 2023 final.

Chris has provided the Shaymen an unforgettable three years (six years in total) and we wish that he and his family have all the best for the future for the future.

Chris Millington – “After a lot of soul search, I decided to step down from my position as Halifax Town Manager. It was a privilege to represent the club and the city of Halifax in the past 6 years as the first team manager and assistant.

I had the privilege of working with some outstanding people through the game staff and the non -game employee. Special thanks go to Andy Cooper for his loyalty and unshakable support, the rest of the staff for her diligence and commitment, David Boosomworth for his patience and guidance and of course the rest of the back office staff who were supported on the way. It was a pleasure to work with the players, and without the support of the fans we could not have reached 2 play-off surfaces and a FA Trophy victory at Wembley.

I am devastated that I will not be the man who leads Halifax Town back to the EFL, but I think the time is suitable for changing the manager at the Fcht. The club needs a manager to build on the solid foundation and the positive reputation that has been built in the past 6 years.

The club will always take a special place in my heart and I wish everyone had all the best and I am looking forward to the day I can visit the Shay Stadium to watch the city of the football league as a football league.

David Bosomworth – Chairman – “To contribute to this announcement is a particularly sad task for me. When it comes to the appointment of Chris three years ago, to replace Pete Wild, it was a jump in faith that he had gone through a fairly intensive interview process that Chris was little or no doubt that it was the right man for the job, and so it has proven. In the budget restrictions in which we work, his employees and players have their best for the success of the club In his first year.

In the play-offs two years, a wonderful performance is running and Chris and everything can be right. Let’s be honest in the last two seasons (and yes, I hear the voices that say that on all five earlier occasions we never go beyond the first eliminator match). Chris never moan. At the end of the 2023-24 season, the Farce around the field, all the resulting match shifts, the origin of the games, the loss of our homeier for the last three games and the games of four games in one week, all outside of home and one in Southampton. To be expected that it will roll out in top shape in soli lull and the fitness for a play-off fixture would always be a high order. Nevertheless and a terrible start in the game, they fought themselves. This season we probably lost a fourth/fifth place and a home tie in the first play-off eliminator due to an unprecedented list of injuries. Sometimes we were without nine players and although we brought seven loans/obligations to support Chris and the Personal/Team, the away game in Oldham became too far.

His commitment, his commitment and his desire for success were nothing more than a hint of fresh air. Of course, the need for more goals was recognized, but not so easy to fix. Despite all of this, we were successful and for those who think that it is “a matter of course”, they have to think about it again. Every point is deservedly deserved and we were particularly successful outside of home, and together with Chris it is important to recognize the enormous support of the fans. Giving six years of their lives to support a project and then take over the overall responsibility for this project is physically and mentally demanding and he has given everything. It is a big thank you to Chris from me and whatever he will decide in the future, wish him all the best and he is always sure that he is very welcome in the Shay.

We now have the task of securing the right replacement for Chris and he has agreed to help with the interview process.

The fans react as Halifax that their manager left the club after their National League Playoff eliminators have defeated …

@Shaymenhxfc: Knew it. Get Maynard until the end of the week and give him the opportunity to build a decent squad. Survive this season and we can push again for advertising

@East_west_iger: Get your money for relegation next season!

@Fcht_noah: Thanks for everything you may not have been most popular with certain fan groups, but you gave us some brilliant memories on the way

@Hudders222: The boys accomplished miracles for years.

@Ar6932: Thanks for everything Chris. A great man and a top manager. The Wembley victory makes him a legend in my eyes

@Dean_hutchings: Descent next season! Expect more for less of the next through the door! Man made miracles with the budget of this tight chairman!

@Seth_quayle: Satisfied with what he did for us, but it was certainly time for a change, now time to bring a manager with me who is actually looking forward to going to Shay to see football.

@adiehollands3: I don’t accuse him…. Yes, it wasn’t the most attractive football to be seen, but boy, he worked miracles when you consider that he had tied his hands behind his back for his whole term in the club.

@Lwlwlsh: I hope that he is able to manage a competently running club to show what it is really capable of, because trying to get it up and running here would be impossible. The man was badly disappointed by his owner, just how. Thank you for trying to work, Milly

@Takntownpod: Thanks for everything, Milly! 1x FA Trophy and 2x Play-off campaigns (albeit short and flush) in three seasons are not too shabby, especially in view of our modest budget, the challenges with the field on the Shay and our recent increase in injuries within the squad. To the next chapter!

@Shayflea: Such a shame has done excellent work under very challenging circumstances. Also an absolute top kerl. One thing is certain that the next person will have a damn good job to just fit what Milly did – it will be interesting to see how much time the fans give the next guy

@Tomhwilliams23: A shame, but towards the cards at the end of the season. I really like Chris Millington. I think he speaks well and I also think that he has revised Halifax. I am not sure what his next movements are, but someone gets a very good trainer. Like for Halifax – who do you appoint?

@fchtdylan: It was only a matter of time. He did an absolutely excellent job with the one he had to work with. I may be his critic sometimes, but there is no fact that he is a brilliant gaffer. Good luck wherever it is, Milly

@Willburnett91: I can’t say that I am shocked, especially if you get the interview after the Oldham game. Thanks Milly, all the best for the future. Can be a fight next season.

@Ftthelineblog: For #fcht – oof, tough action to follow. To achieve what CM has with the tools he had (albeit a good squad), it becomes difficult. Lost senior + galvin already; Probably losing two more. A replacement? Maynard would be number 1. I would not allow #notts to judge the audience.

@Ftthelineblog: Among the best of the NL. One of my favorites. Exciting you that he was enough of constant transfer, his team torn into pieces and has to rebuild on a shoe. #Waldstonefc should be all over Millington. There is no better suitable manager for what he needs.

@Nwrighty18: Thanks for everything that Milly, deserves much more respect than he. Under the circumstances made incredibly well made

@abuggjourno: Think we could see that, but it is still disappointing. It may have been too short in the playoffs, but a FA Trophy victory and 2 TOP 7 placements are ultimately a resounding success in a club like this. He deserves a fresh start somewhere else and I wish him all the best.
