After the worst season in the franchise story, the jazz of Utah confirmed her commitment to head coach Will Hardy on Monday with a contract extension.

The 37-year-old Hardy has put together a record of 85-161 (.346) without playoff appearances in his first three seasons in Salt Lake City. His new year of several years runs until 2031.

“I am humble and honored,” said Hardy, according to the team website. “This is an incredible franchise. It is difficult to explain to be able to use the next phase of our process. Moments like these are very surreal. I’m so excited.”

The jazz ended with 17-65 with the worst record in the NBA in 2024-25. Previously, Utah’s worst finish 23-59 was in his opening season in the league from 1974 to 1975.

“Will is a great guide, communicator and ambassador for our (organization)”, “owner Ryan Smith posted on X.” … our goal is to hang up a banner and will be a large part of this trip. “

Hardy worked with the Boston Celtics (2021-22) and the San Antonio Spurs (2015-21) as head coach of jazz in June 2022.
