Stephen Curry is limp. But the show continues.
Just ask Draymond Green, who is completely confident in the playoff chances of the Golden State Warriors, although Curry left against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday due to a tense left Achstring against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Warriors drove to a 99-88 victory even though he had lost curry in the second quarter.
“Robin was in Batman,” said Green. “Alfred was in Robin and they just filled out. It was nice to see.”
If the warriors want to achieve a 2-0 series on Thursday evening on the street, they will probably have to mix their leading roles again.
The original Batman is of course curry. He scored an average of 24 points per game in the first win of the Warriors against the Houston Rockets and caused the attention of defenders, which enlarged many of his teammates at the end of the court.
Curry had a great start in game 1 in Minnesota. In his first 13 minutes he had 13 points, and the Warriors built an early lead to submit a Timberwolves audience to see a victory.
But Curry grabbed his left leg after making a floating jump shot. He signaled the bank that something seemed wrong, and he left the game quickly and never returned.
Warriors trainer Steve Kerr said he was planning for game 2 without his experienced sniper. It is expected that Curry will be subjected to an MRI on Wednesday to learn more about the severity of the injury.
“We don’t know yet,” said Kerr. “But with a knee tendon it is difficult to imagine that he would play on Thursday.”
So what happens when Batman is out?
Robin gets the call.
In this case, this means Jimmy Butler. In game 1 he flirted with a triple double when he ended with 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in 41 minutes.
Butler loves the spotlight. He played with Robin von Curry’s Batman this season, but everyone knows that he is an alpha in the heart. Look for him to try to take control in game 2.
Will it work? That is the more difficult question.
Minnesota is a great defensive team, although she shows some collapse in game 1. The Timberwolves will definitely save a game at home before the series shifts west, and coach Chris Finch will almost certainly create a game plan to frustrate Butler as much as possible.
When Robin Batman, as Green explained, Alfred Robin’s role has to play. In this case, this means that Buddy Hield is asked to fill part of the emptiness left by Curry.
HILD has shown that he can assume the additional responsibilities. In game 7 in Houston, he scored 33 points on the 12-on-15 shooting of 9- against 11 shooting from the 3-point range.
It is reasonable to believe that Hield will soon cool off, maybe as soon as game 2. He is a good shooter, but he scored an average of 11.1 points during the regular season, and at some point he would believe that he would withdraw to the mean.
Green has held out the description of Batman, but he is clearly the villain on every show. He had a strong start of series production, in which he ended with 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Maybe just as important, green played with an edge, but stayed carefully so as not to go over the edge. He has to follow this approach again on Thursday, especially when the campaign intensifies and the Timberwolves try to hit him in his own game by getting under the skin.
It is too early to know whether curry will be back in the series and if so, how fast.
However, do not count the warriors.
