Best MLB bets today: Top picks for Monday, May 19th

April 24, 2025; San Francisco, California, USA; Milwaukee Brewers Third Baseman Vinny Capra (18) cannot control the ball during the sixth inning in Oracle Park in a game against the San Francisco Giants. Mandatory loan: Kelley L Cox-Mimagn pictures

If the NBA takes a break today, you can pay your full and undivided attention on the best MLB bets of the day. But what are the “best MLB bets”, do you ask? After making a deep immersion in the slate of the day, I have a few ideas.

Here is my list of the best MLB bets for Monday, May 19th:

    Chicago Cubs against Miami Marlins

If you look at the preview and see a starting jug with an ERA of 4.75 (Ben Brown, Cubs) and the other with an ERA of 5.52 (Edward Cabrera), this is probably the last thing you think about.

In his last two starts, Cabrera gave up two runs (against A) and one (against White Sox) in 5 2/3 and five innerings. Brown gave up two (against Miami) and three (against Miami) and three (against San Francisco) in his last two (against Miami) and three (against San Francisco), but played better on the street at home this season.

Brown has an ERA of 1.59 on the street and has not given up a run in the last two street starts (each six innerings).

The Cubs meet last week .266 and the Marlins meet .256. Cabrera did well in his recent starts, and Brown was great on the street. You will keep things under control while you are involved. But it is not foreseeable what will happen if they are pulled.

    Baltimore Orioles against Milwaukee Brewers

The brewers only meet 0.189 last week and have scored 14 runs together in the last six games. The Dean Kremer (5.36 ERA) should give you a boost, but how badly you do it could not.

Baltimore has reached a respectable .252, but achieved average fewer than four runs per game. The era of Quinn Priesters is on the high side with 4.59, but he played very well in his last two excursions and gave up a run in everyone.

    Philadelphia Phillies against Colorado Rockies

The Pitching Matchup in this says everything. Philadelphia will begin with Cristopher Sánchez, who is on the street in three starts with an ERA of 1.88 2: 1. Colorado is supposed to start Kyle Freeland, who is at home in four starts with an ERA of 9.77 in four starts.

Colorado’s pen has an ERA of 4.20, so I would not expect to be rescue.

    Phillies -1.5 (Fanduel)

Arizona Diamondbacks against Los Angeles Dodgers

Here you have two teams who hit the ball very well last week. The Dodgers met .313 and the Diamondbacks .303. Brandon Pfaadt held the Dodgers goalless at home on May 8th, but Pfaad was at home at home.

On the street he was 2-2 with a 6.64 ERA and the teams .302 met against him. Dodger’s starter Landon Knack was the worst at home (0-1 with an ERA of 7.00). The teams meet against him at home.

It will be surprising to say the least if the end result is not over 9.5 runs.
