The Green Bay Packers signed the Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgersma, his agent confirmed on Monday to NFL Network.
Elgersma, who won the Heisman Trophy last year last year, took part in one attempt at the beginning of this month during a rookie -minicamp.
The Packers had an open place on the squad, so that there was no corresponding transaction. The terms were not published by the team or Elgers Agent Craig Schaeffer.
“He has a very living arm. We could see that on the tape,” Packers coach Matt Lafleur told reporters at the beginning of this month. “He obviously played in the senior bowl and (coordinator Jason), who he is there, saw him there.”
The 23-year-old Elgersma played college football from 2020 to 24.24 in Wilfrid Laurier in Ontario. He earned the 2024 HEC Crighton Trophy, which was introduced to the most outstanding Canadian football player.
After the season, the 6-foot 4, 216-pound Elgersma became the first Canadian quarterback that was ever invited to the senior bowl.
Elgersma was recorded in the second round (18th overall) in the Canadian football League draft 2025 by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
In addition to starter Jordan Love, the Packers also have the quarterbacks Sean Clifford and Malik Willis on the squad.
