Meanwhile the EFL confirms his attitude to a potential scrap of the Blackout rule at 3 p.m.
Clubs in the English football league are said to have a say this summer about the shining of the blackout rule at 3 p.m.
The rule that came into force in the 1960s prohibits live football on a Saturday between 2 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. Since people’s observation habits change and the pandemic have temporarily increased the blackout rules, they are spoken on Saturday at 3 p.m.
In contrast to various reports, the EFL is not to be promoted as an activity for this result, but it insists that member clubs who want changes can talk about it during the general meeting of this summer in June.
When football returned after the Covid break in June 2020, all EFL games were broadcast through the IFLOW -Streaming service, although fans were unable to take part in games. This included those who took place on Saturdays at 3 p.m.
This rule remained for the entire 2020-21 campaign, which took place almost exclusively behind closed doors and enabled a source of urgently needed income for many clubs, although it would have been significantly less than normal gate income.
The temporary rule was removed at the beginning of the current season without restricting the number of visitors within the stadiums. In October 2021, the chairman of the EFL, Rick Parry, refused to see that the law was scrapped.
He said: “I do not see (an end to the power failure) as essential. After I said it, I don’t necessarily rule it out. We are almost unique in Europe now when we have a power failure period. I do not assume that this is the case.
All plans to scrap the rule would have to be adopted by UEFA. What we already know is the decision to keep the TV blackout or aspded. Ryan Sparks, CEO of Bradford City, said I. News that he was equipped for the bypass from 3 p.m.
He said: “I know there are people who ask:” Will the fans still come? “It is a fear for League 1 or League Two Clubs, but they are two different markets.
In contrast, the chairman of the Football Supporterer Association, Malcolm Clarke, said at the beginning of this season that he saw “no reason” to change the current round bargaining rules.
Another reason to create the discussion is the existing EFL television contract with Sky Sports, which will have a total of 228 live games this season, and ITV had concluded a two-year contract to show highlights of the competition from the new season.

Huge changes announced by EFL in the Landmark Broadcasting Deal with Sky Sports
EFL clubs unanimously have a record inland law contract with broadcaster Sky Sports worth 935 million GBP over a period of five years with over 1,000 games per seasonal number of games for a club football contract.
From the 2024/25 season to season 2028/29, the arrangement will consist of guaranteed payments of 895 million GBP and 40 million GBP of marketing services. A total of 1,059 EFL games are sent live via existing Sky Sports channels or via a Sky Sports Streaming goal on television and on mobile devices.
Increased value and promotion
The New Deal corresponds to an increase in the value of the current rights contract by 50% and is significantly improved for all EFL clubs that are significantly improved by on-air and digital support from Sky Sports to promote EFL competitions, clubs and community initiatives.
Every season Sky Sports sends a minimum:
- 328 Sky Bet championship games
- 248 Sky Bet League One Matches
- 248 Sky Bet League two games
- All 15 play-off games
- All 93 Carabao Cup games
- All 127 EFL Trophy agreements
In every league weekend, 10 Live -EFL games are shown. Five games are shown by the Sky Bet Championship, and the supporters of the Sky Bet League One and the two teams of the two League will now benefit from greater reporting than ever, five of their games being broadcast live. For the first time, fans can also view any match from the Carabao Cup and the EFL Trophy.
All opening, end day and mid -week games in the Sky Bet EFL are shown live, as are all games that are played on bank holidays such as Easter, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day as well as the games in the Sky Bet League One and two in international breaks.
Increased notification for fans
With the significant increase in the number of live games, Sky Sports and EFL will introduce a new obligation for clubs and fans who deliver longer notice periods when selecting television. With the defined notice periods, clubs and fans can continue to plan in advance. This includes the placement of all live games that were selected for the period for the period of FA Cup 3rd Round before the start of the season. A greater parity in the frequency with which clubs are selected for TV reporting is also guaranteed.
Article 48 Stay
The New Deal enables ‘Article 48’, the blocked shipment time between 2:45 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, which means that main funding devices are intended for outside of this time. The final venues will be confirmed at a later date.
Household flows
From the 2024/25 season, this agreement provides more matches for the stream and effectively replaces the current Sky Sports EFL Red key and the domestic streaming option of EFL via ifowl and club -streaming services. In addition to existing audiovisual agreements for international target groups, domestic streaming audio services remain via IFOWL and club streaming services.
Improved production values and camera numbers
The EFL and Sky Sports will continue to work together to be innovative to seek opportunities to improve reporting and to bring the audience closer to the campaign, while the EFL will invest considerably in the production infrastructure in order to improve the experience. Sky Sports will have at least eight cameras for every game program on existing channels. Sky Commentary is provided for stream games and at least four cameras are used in championship and league -1 games and at least two cameras in the second division.
Commentary, managing director of EFL, said Trevor Birch:
“After completing a comprehensive tender and negotiation process, this is a pioneering shipment contract for EFL clubs in which the league is set up as a premium partner with a world-famous broadcaster in Sky Sports.
“EFL is a legendary sports property and one of the largest and best leagues in European football. This increased investment and reporting of Sky Sports will show much more of our convincing match action for fans and at the same time provide record rights in order to make our clubs sustainable at all levels.
“For decades, Sky Sports has been a fantastic broadcast partner for both EFL and English football and helps our sport to grow through its continued support. We are therefore pleased to announce this innovative agreement that combines the strength of an established brand with a modern streaming service for the benefit of EFL clubs, fans and Sky sports.
“With around 20 million, which are present every season, the EFL games of Sky Founding and a great interest in the league at home and abroad, we look forward to further expanding our collective fan base, and we would like to thank Sky Sports for the continuous commitment to the clubs and the communities who support this investment directly.”
