Will we hear the chants of “Joaooo Fonseca” at the Laver Cup in San Francisco in September?
Perhaps if enough Brazilian fans buy tickets for the 2025 edition of the Europe team against Team World from September 19th to 21st in the Chase Center in San Francisco.
The young Brazilian Mega star was announced on Tuesday, May 13th, as part of the Team World of Event organizers. Holger Rune was also announced and part of the Europe team.

Rune, currently the No. 10 in the world, is represented by Team Europe under captain Yannick Noah. The 22-year-old Dane won five ATP Tour-Singles titles, reached three Grand Slam quarter-finals and performed in Indian Wells in four ATP Masters 1000 finals in Indian Wells. Last month he defeated teammates and Alcaraz No. 3 to win the Barcelona Open. Rune was supposed to celebrate his Laver Cup debut in Vancouver in 2023, but had to withdraw due to a back injury.
“It feels amazing to be selected for Team Europe in San Francisco this year,” said Rune. “I was so close to playing the Laver Cup a few years ago, but unfortunately I was injured and I couldn’t do it. The three most rated players from Europe and the world based on their ATP-Singles ranking on Monday to Roland-Garros will receive an automatic invitation to play the Laver Cup. If one of these players decides not to participate, the offer is made to another high -ranking player. The remaining three places in each team will be “Captain’s Picks” and can be announced at any time before the US Open begins. By naming Rune and Fonseca in their teams, Noah and Agassi undertake to use the choice of a captain for them if they do not qualify on the basis of the ranking.
The Laver Cup will visit San Francisco for the first time this year and will return to the Bay Area for the first time in over a decade.
